Special podcast – International Day of Light
In celebration of May 16, International Day of Light, this date was chosen because it was the anniversary of the first successful operation of the laser, in 1960, by the physicist and engineer Theodore Maiman. The SPIE/OSA Student Chapter UFSC, in partnership with the podcast “Focalizando” (focusing) and SPIE Student Chapter Recife, produced a special podcast that addressed some myths, false news and curiosities about light. The questions are shown below:
1. Can I wash the N95 mask in the washing machine?
2. Will measuring the temperature on your forehead melt your neurons?
3. Will watching netflix eating a microwave popcorn bring you cancer?
4. Are you going to become an X-MAN with the 5G?
5. Is it dangerous to sleep next to a cell phone while charging?
6. Why don’t we need to be afraid of thunder?
Are you curious to know about the answers? Listen to the podcast and share with your friends and family!
